Sooke town core

The Sooke town core will be the target area for most of the housing development in the Sooke region. The District of Sooke's official community plan indicates that 66% of land in the District will remain as rural.

Higher density in the town core will include discussion about multi-family construction, secondary suites and related issues such as parking and greenspace.


 

Development - at what cost

Development of land and homes for Sooke newcomers to live in and enjoy is a big responsibility that those who plan, build and develop take seriously. We also take pride in the role we play to help build a vibrant and liveable community.

Development is costly. In turn this has an impact upon housing affordability. We seek to provide as much information to the District of Sooke and the public about the costs incurred by developers, and what services and offerings are brought to the community by developers, such as sidewalks and greenspace.
